I had so much fun making Rina and Amara that I got attached to them before I had even decided what I’d do with them in-game. Rina is a single mom, and Amara is her toddler daughter. I used the character creator’s genetics to make them feel like a family, then built out Rina’s look, outfits and personality. Along the way, I started imagining a cozy single-mom Lifetime Play in Bliss Bay—but I’m still figuring out whether I’ll actually play that story. Making Amara also reminded me how much I want more baby clothes.

Meet Rina and Amara

I had so much fun creating this mom-and-daughter pair that I got attached to them almost immediately. Rina is a single mom, and Amara is her toddler daughter. I wanted to try that mother-and-toddler feeling, and being able to play with genetics made a big difference: I could shape them as a family instead of making two unrelated Zois. I shared them through Canvas for anyone who wants to download them; there is a little custom content, but not too much. I made them ahead of the update and am already imagining how I might use them once it arrives.

Creating Rina’s Look and Personality

Rina was the first one I built, and I had a lot of fun shaping her face. I turned off symmetry because I wanted her features to feel a little uneven and individual; to me, that helped her look more realistic. I played with her eyes, brows, makeup and hair, then put together everyday clothes, a dressier look and winter wear. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed those outfits—her personality was already coming through for me. I also chose her traits and ambition to fit the character I was imagining.

The Story I’m Imagining for Rina

I kept inventing a whole life for Rina while I was making her. I could picture a single-mom Lifetime Play in Bliss Bay, maybe starting with not much money—the kind of naturally challenging story I love in life sims. I imagined her and Amara staying close as Amara grows up, almost like best friends. I’m still undecided about the father’s backstory: perhaps he exists elsewhere in their world, perhaps they’re separated, or perhaps I never bring another partner into their lives. I even wondered whether Rina might adopt another child someday, but I might prefer keeping the story focused on just the two of them. These are my personal storyline ideas, not events that have happened in the game; I haven’t decided whether I’ll actually play it out.

Rina’s Traits and Amara’s Creation

By the time I chose Rina’s traits, I could already feel the personality I wanted for her: she is Devoted and Cheerful, with a Family Time aspiration. I did notice that Devoted was glitching at the time, so I’m waiting to see how that goes before playing her. Then I started creating Amara, choosing her look and outfits as Rina’s toddler daughter. I love how the family genetics help tie them together, and I got just as attached to Amara while building her.

A Baby-Clothes Wishlist and Sharing the Zois

Making Amara made me realize how much I want more baby clothes. I’m not sure whether the next update will add any, so custom content may be another option. I created these Zois on my laptop, where I tend to spend a long time building without talking, then transfer the video to my desktop. I’ll put their Canvas links in the description for anyone who wants them. At the end, I just wanted to show the finished pair together—the cozy family feeling is what made me want to keep imagining their story.
